What’s in the Pouch?

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day... yadda yadda. And we’re immensely proud of the fact that nearly every ingredient in our Berry Bakewell recipe packs a nutritional punch. Obviously, we're a little biased (we are trying to sell you something after all), but check out the list for yourselves - we're willing to bet these are all things you'd be happy for your kids to start the day with too:

chia seeds

One of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet, full stop. Rich in calcium, fibre, Omega-3, antioxidants... this little seed punches above it's weight and keeps little digestive systems ticking like clockwork.

walnuts

Arguably the most impressive nut in existence. Not only are these crunchy, gut-friendly treats shaped like brains, they're also brain food - a great source of iron and zinc, which contribute to normal cognitive function. Coincidence?... I think not. They're also rich in Omega-3 and manganese.

Sweet potato

One of nature's richest sources of vitamin A, which supports the immune system, and vision - keeping little peepers peeping as they should. Not bad for a humble root vegetable.

wholegrain oats

The gold standard of breakfast grains, and for good reason. Oat grain fibre helps keep little digestive systems chugging along. Rich in thiamine, which assists with normal psychological function - so kids stay focused rather than flagging by 10 am.

flaxseeds

An absolute powerhouse of Omega-3 and magnesium, which helps ward off tiredness and fatigue. This small seed punches above its weight, fuelling little humans at every level.

almonds

There are few better sources of vitamin E on Earth. They also contain high levels of magnesium, which contributes to muscle function and healthy bone maintenance. While the additional protein and fibre help to keep hunger at bay from morning to the middle of the day.

beetroot

Exceptionally rich in folate, which helps with blood formation and immune system function. Also a source of manganese, which maintains bones, and potassium, which assists with muscle function — if anything, this root veggie might give kids too much stamina.

BRAZIL NUTS

The single richest food source of selenium that scientists know of. Selenium is known to help with immune system support and thyroid function. It also protects cells from oxidative stress.

peanuts

These little nuts are phenomenal at keeping small folks full and properly fuelled. Chock-full of protein, which contributes to muscle and proper bone maintenance. Iron, which helps with normal cognitive and metabolic function, and zinc, which keeps immune systems running like they should.

puffed millet

An ancient grain with a thoroughly modern nutritional profile. Contains phosphorus, which helps with bones and teeth, and iron, which helps with cognitive function, and works behind the scenes to reduce tiredness and fatigue.

cashews

A standout source of copper, which helps with running the nervous system, keeps metabolism ticking over, and makes sure the immune system keeps immune-ing. Also packed with magnesium and zinc that support everything from normal psychological function to the protection of cells.

strawberries

These juicy berries are as super as they are scrumptious - a fantastic source of vitamin C, which helps the immune system, protects cells, and reduces tiredness and fatigue.

Hazelnuts

So good, they should be a superfood. Rich in vitamin E, which protects cells, and Manganese, which maintains bones and connective tissue formation. These yummy kernels are a genuinely underrated and glorious addition to any little one's diet.

CRANBERRIES

Rich in vitamin C, which keeps little immune system firing on all cylinders, protects cells, and assists with collagen formation. They're low-key one of the hardest-working fruits in the culinary kingdom.

PUFFED BROWN RICE

Whole grain goodness in its most digestible form, gentle enough for sensitive tummies (including toddlers). And it's high in fibre, magnesium, and essential trace minerals without any hidden nasties.

carob syrup

An out-of-this-world, powerhouse of a binder that holds all our ingredients together. Not only is it delicious, it's also packed with goodness. Carob is naturally rich in fibre, calcium, and potassium. And, its low glycaemic index means it won't spike blood sugar.
